Background

On leaving school I went into engineering and through further education qualified as a Mechanical Production Engineer. I specialised in design engineering but as manufacturing went into decline, I was made redundant on a number of occasions, which caused me to reconsider my choice of career.

I retrained for entry into the financial services industry and then joined Blake Independent in 2001.

Area of expertise

Due to experience in a wide variety of areas, I class myself as an all-rounder with the ability to be able to offer comprehensive advice on a variety of topics.

I am currently studying for my Diploma in Financial Planning. I am finding that this experience is boosting my knowledge base considerably with the most up to date knowledge in a rapidly changing market.

About me

I live with my partner and have two children. We like outdoor pursuits such as walking and regularly visit the Lakes, which has resulted in my personal achievement of climbing three of the highest peaks in each of the home nations in Britain - Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales.

I would like to climb higher mountains abroad, but family and work commitments at the moment take first place.

I am very interested in computers and have even designed programs, one of which featured in a weekly home computing magazine. Along with a school friend, we designed and created a programme which would assist a family in calculating their monthly financial budget. Financial planning raised its head early in my career!
